Bend Church Plant

Bend is all about a lifestyle. It’s about year-round outdoor adventure. It’s about cuisine and beer and coffee. Therefore, Bend is attracting a wave of millennials who want to experience a piece of Heaven on Earth. Over the last year, the leadership has been seeking God in prayer about what it might look like to plant A Jesus Church in Bend.

According to a 2010 census, 74% of residents in Deschutes County do not adhere to a “religious” system of belief. Only 11% of residents identify themselves as Evangelical Protestant. But because of the rapid influx of Millennials (who are less likely to be connected to a faith community) moving into the heart of Bend, we believe the statistics today in west Bend are even more drastic.

So, how is God calling the A Jesus Church Family to respond? Simply stated: to be the Church in Bend. God is calling us to be the family of God, on the mission of God, making disciples of Jesus in the heart of Bend. Our vision is to see an unified collection of Missional Communities who identify the pocket of Bend they are uniquely suited to share the Gospel of Jesus with, and who live together on mission there.

Bend Church Giving

Our hope is to see God’s will done in Bend as it is in Heaven. Many kinds of resources are required to carry out the mission God has given us as the Church. As we prepare to plant in Bend, one of those resources is money. You can participate in the work God is doing in Bend by giving financially.

Introducing Andrew & Grace Rothrock

ajc_bend_rothrock

Andrew is an outdoor enthusiast and lifelong resident of Oregon with a deep love for the beauty and adventure in the Pacific Northwest. Grace grew up all over the states and abroad in a missionary family, and as an adult, landed in Portland with our family of churches back when we were called Solid Rock. Their pursuit of  becoming more like Jesus is what brought them together six years ago. They have a three year-old daughter named Isabel.

Andrew and Grace are avid students of the Scripture and love to share life with other followers of Jesus. They are relocating from Central Oregon to Portland for a season to become embedded church planters at Westside, to train with the leadership, and build a team to join them in planting in April 2017.

Serve with Bend Church Plant

The New Testament gives us a picture of what the Church is supposed to be: a body. We are one in Christ, which means we belong to him and to one another. Also, we are fashioned uniquely by God to perform a specific function in the body. You are a member of the body of Christ and have an invaluable contribution to make.
